Environmental Science 9/30 - 10/4

Objective this week:  Be able to identify skulls of common Kansas mammals and begin putting your insect collection together.

Insect collection prep day.  Please bring all that you have for your collection for today so we can start putting it together.  It's due 10/15 and it's for TEST POINTS.

Thursday
Students absent/Hadachek absent; students may return early, and if so they can watch a video.

Insect collection prep/complete an assignment in class.

Anatomy & Physiology 9/30 - 10/4

Objective this week:  To learn and understand the importance of glands to your body, and how some glands are different from other glands.  There will be a quiz at the end of the week over the epidermis and dermis.

Monday
Discuss glands - sweat glands vs oil glands.  Forms, functions, etc.

Tuesday
Complete a graphic organizer over sweat glands & oil glands.  Prepare for the skin care lab tomorrow.

6th Grade Science 9/30 - 10/4

Objective this week:  Learn and understand what thermal energy is and how it's transferred through reading and workbook question sets.  There will be a quiz at the end of the week with a 100/85 performance objective to determine how well students are grasping the content.

Begin discussing temperature and heat; Discuss and complete #1-10 on pages 95-101 in your workbook for points.

Objective this week:  To reach the level of mastery over cell division by the end of the week through the completion of a kinesthetic assignment and a quiz (100/85 performance objective).

Discuss cellular division (mitosis); all of the steps, the process, etc.

Tuesday
Discuss the 46 pairs assignment and begin that process

Review activity for tomorrow's mitosis quiz (Hadachek absent; this activity will be on paper and will be for points)

Objective this week:  Reach the level of mastery over carrying capacity and densities in ecosystems by the end of the week through the presentation of a group project, a Google Classroom assignment, and a quiz.

Monday
Wrap up the CC redesign project for points.  Finish all phases of group work, visuals and presentation materials completed.

Tuesday
Present group projects to the class, reflect on the experience.

7th Grade Life Science 9/16 - 9/20

Objective this week:  To relate structure to function by building an imaginary creature, and also learn and understand plant tissues, organs, & organ systems.  There will be a quiz at the end of the week over these topics.

Monday & Tuesday
Creature builds - begin creating an imaginary life form by converting a seed pod into that imaginary organism; build in your own "features" that demonstrate how the structures relate to function.  All features must be biological, so no extra jet packs, weapons, etc.  Students will turn in a handout on Tuesday along with their creature for points.

Wednesday
Begin discussing plant tissues, organs, and organ systems. 

Thursday
Continue plant organs & organ systems, and review for tomorrow's quiz

Friday
Quiz over organ systems and structure vs function.

Objective this week:  To demonstrate the level of mastery over different tissue types through the completion of a unit exam at the end of the week where students score a minimum of 85%.

Begin discussing tissue repair; wrap up the tissue unit; create a graphic organizer of your choice over connective vs epithelial tissue.

Begin discussing wildlife acts and how they contribute to conservation in North America.  Discuss acts 1-5.

Create a series of flash cards for Acts 1-5; discuss those acts and complete a flash-card assignment for points.

Objective this week:  To understand the importance of cellular respiration and be able to explain the parts of the process.

Tuesday
Review the basics of cellular respiration.  Complete the processes of glycolysis and the Kreb's cycle. 

Wednesday
Discuss electron transport; complete an ad-lib of the process.

Thursday
Ad-libs due; complete a build process and build a model over the events of cellular respiration.

Friday
Complete models and prepare for model interviews.
