7th Grade Science 11/11 - 11/15

Objective this week:  Students will teach classmates about a genetic engineering concept that they find interesting, and how that concept affects human beings and the world.  They will also take a quiz on Thursday with an 85/100 scoring objective.

Monday & Tuesday
Google Slides project work - artificial selection & genetic engineering

Wednesday
work on slide shows

Thursday
Quiz - DNA and engineering; finish slide shows & present

Friday
Vocab work/review - slide show presentations if needed

Biology 11/11 - 11/15

Objective this week:  To understand how different parts of a cell function to promote life and keep living things healthy.

Monday
Review cellular organelles; key in on the nucleus and DNA

Tuesday
DNA form and function - discuss what DNA is made of, and explain how DNA is copied

Wednesday
DNA model builds; complete the KINEX model build of the DNA copying process & answer the worksheet questions for points.

Thursday
Begin discussing protein synthesis.  Explain the process of transcription and translation.

Friday
Quiz - DNA form and function.  Translation specifics.

Monday, November 4, 2019

Environmental Science 11/4 - 11/8

Objective this week:  To understand the importance of the effects of urban wildlife on people and the environment, and to demonstrate a level of mastery over an animal lifecycle by taking a quiz at the end of this week.

Monday
Begin working on a Google Slide presentation over urban wildlife damage & control.

Tuesday
Urban wildlife damage/control Google Slide project

Wednesday & Thursday
Present Google Side show to the class

Friday
Quiz - WT deer lifecycle, photoperiodism

Sunday, November 3, 2019

Anatomy & Physiology 11/4 - 11/8

Objective this week: To understand how bone fracture repair works, and to be able to identify bones of the upper torso.

Monday
Endochondral ossification and bone fracture repair

Tuesday
Bone lab - begin bones of the upper torso.  Complete a lab worksheet over these bones

Wednesday
Bone fracture repair models for points

Thursday
Bone lab - upper torso bones

Friday
Review/reflect on this week's learning activities

6th Grade Science 11/4 - 11/8

Objective this week:  To understand how velocity, acceleration, and other forces act on you & the objects around you.

Monday
Discuss velocity & acceleration; complete pages 9-11 in your workbook.

Tuesday
Lab - NASCAR activity STEM

Wednesday
NASCAR aerodynamics & downforce, testing your vehicles.

Thursday
Begin discussing gravity and friction.  Explain with classroom demos.

Friday
Friction/gravity labs

7th Grade Life Science 11/4 - 11/8

Objective this week:  To complete a STEM project over animal and wind driven seed distribution.

Monday - Wednesday
Build and test your wind driven & animal-carried seeds.  Four trials maximum.

Thursday
Be sure your packet is completed for daily work points; we will have class time today to work on this project.  Reflect on the project

Friday
Begin discussing genetic engineering; trends in science with medical technology/cloning/genetic manipulation

Biology 11/4 - 11/8

Objective this week:  Students will do two primary things:  1.) Show and discuss with their peers a human impact to the environment, and a solution they've proposed; 2.) learn about the form and function of the inner parts of a cell.

Monday & Tuesday
Presentations - human impacts on the environment

Wednesday
Begin discussing cells - review cell theory and all parts of a eukaryotic cell.

Thursday
Cellular organelles; discuss and complete an assignment over these.

Friday
DNA - form and function
